Texas Cichlid

(Grows to- 12")(Temp- 60-78, tolerant of cooler water. )  A cichlid from Northern Mexico that is similar in temperament to other S.A. Cichlids such as the Firemouth.  They display vivid colors when in prime condition. . They like to dig and will uproot plants.  Juveniles can be kept in groups, adults may be best by themselves. Adults should have a tank of  55 gal or more (Herichthys cyanogutattatus)

These fish are difficult to sex when young.  Adult males tend to be larger and some develop a hump on their head.   Females usually have a dark spot on the spiny part of the doral fin.
