Place in the sand bed where the plant will then root. Stalk will grow to 4", and become highly calcified, so it will not be eaten by fish or snails, making it an ideal show piece. Can lose its needles when transplanted and regrow new, to prevent a mess, some aquarists pretrim the needles before placing in the tank.  (Penicillus sp.)
