Polypterus   (Bichir)

(Size- 12") The most common species of bichir that is native to Africa. Not overly aggressive but may eat smaller fish it can catch.  They readily accept sinking pellets and frozen foods. These fish are members of primitive group of fish dating back 160 million years that includes the Bichars and Ropefish. (Polypterus senegalus)
