(Grows to- 3")(Temp- 75-80) A very colorful rainbowfish. They are peaceful schooling fish that do best in groups of 5 or more. They can be mixed in community tanks with fish of similar size. Tanks with live plants are advised. Some floating live plants to provide shade, and a dark subtrate. will bring out the best. Feed flakes and a variety of foods. They can be kept in tanks of 20 gal or more. (Melanotaenia praecox)

Also called the Neon Rainbowfish, and the Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish. They are one of the smaller rainbowfish.
Males and females: They are easy to sex with the males having bright red fins and the females having fins ranging in color from yellow to light orange. They look best in a tank with some shade provided from a cover of floating plants along with a dark substrate and background.
Feeding: For best color feed a variety of foods including flakes, frozen foods, bloodworms, and small pellets. They are an omnivore.
