-----------------------
Tank Mates:  Keep with with other active fish of similar size.  Here are a few good choices for a community tank with Black Tetras.   Small Tiger barbs, cherry barbs, bloodfin tetras, serpae tetras, zebra danios, pearl danios, harlequin rasbors, small red tail shark, small brisstlenose plecostomus, corydoras cats,  swordtail, small kribensis cichlid.

Tank mates to avoid:  Do not mix them with slow moving small fish such as Neons or Guppies.

Black Tetras is small aquariums:  Because they are so hardy we have seen many people have success with a couple of these in filtered aquariums as small as 6 gallon.  However they look best when they are kept in schools in tanks of 20 gallons or more.

Housing:  Like most Tetras they do best in tanks with some bushy plants to the back and open swimming room in the front.  They stay out front and will not hide.  Provide good filtration and standard water conditions.  (pH 6.5-7.5)

Also called the Black Skirt Tetra.

Color Varieties:  The  "White Tetra" is a color variety.  You will sometimes see Hi Fin Varieties of this fish.
