A hardy bottom dweller that feeds at night. Provide hiding spots and a tight cover.  Suitable with similar size fish,  but may swallow small fish such as guppies and neons.   Feed a variety of meaty foods such as krill, bloodworms, clams.

Native to Africa. They are related to ropefish, and are members of a group of fish that  dates back 160 million years. (Polypterus senegalis)
